We feed Miami and Estero doctors, nurses and medical staff on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic.
Since 2012, Divieto Ristorante has been serving the greater Miami and Lee County areas through our three establishments. We have always been committed to helping our communities and the people in them, supporting local schools, non profits and charitable foundations with food donations for their events and efforts.
After the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic we began bringing food to frontline workers at hospitals, police departments and fire stations, who have been working around the clock to treat individuals impacted by the virus—often at great risk to their own personal health.
However, on March 17th, 2020, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez mandated that all Miami-Dade County restaurants and bars close except for take-out and deliveries as part of the effort to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past weeks we have had to shut down one of our three locations and, most painfully, put in pause 120 of our wonderful employees. We are fighting to keep the other two locations open by focusing on take-out and deliveries, but the volume of orders has to ramp up for us to stay open. Now more than ever we want to continue helping frontline workers, but our efforts can only go so far at this moment when the need is so great and our restaurants so impacted.
Coincidentally, I received a message from one of our generous vendors, Mercato Italiano, who passed along an effort being implemented in NYC by a former colleague and now we are bringing that model to Miami. Feed the Frontlines NYC was created by Luca Di Pietro to help his family’s restaurants and New York City's health care workers on the frontlines of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. One of Luca’s friends ordered 40 dinners from Tarallucci e Vino, which they delivered to the hardworking ER staff at NYU Langone. The idea planted the seed for Feed the Frontlines NYC—an initiative to get more generous contributors to buy meals from restaurants around the city to be delivered to first responders.
Divieto Ristorante has the team, capacity, delivery capability and safe handling procedures to execute! It’s our time to act! As many people are doing the right thing and Staying At Home, we all are looking for ways to do something to help. This community effort will enable us to provide healthy meals for Miami and Estero's first responders and keep some of our employees working for a greater cause. At Divieto Ristorante we believe in giving back to the community. All meals will be donated to our local hospitals and first responders.
The goal of this new initiative is to feed our healthcare professionals during this crisis and keep members of our wonderful staff working. Your purchase covers the cost of food, wages and delivery.
We hope you’ll join us in this effort to keep Florida healthy and well-fed.
